Sarena L. McLean, holding MSc. and HBA degrees, is a dedicated volunteer and co-founder of Neighbourhood Outreach for Kids Elgin (NOK). She has a long history of working alongside Bev Fellows, NOK's Executive Director, collaborating for over 10 years to bring vital resources to vulnerable neighbourhoods. This partnership along with many community partners included establishing a community Hub that operated from 2014 to 2020. NOK began as a vision many years ago, Bev and Sarena spent many hours during the COVID-19 lockdown online together creating all the pieces that today is NOK.
At NOK, Sarena serves as the Organizational Development Officer & Evaluation Consultant. In this role, her focus is on strengthening NOK's ability to serve our community. She is committed to ensuring that NOK uses reliable information to make the best decisions for the children, youth, and families we serve. Sarena is responsible for evaluating NOK's programs, such as the Walking Bus program, using robust methods to produce valid and reliable results. Her work is considered "necessary to evaluation" for NOK and is crucial for demonstrating the success of programs in meeting community needs.
Sarena is part of the team whose combined experience, knowledge, and skills make NOK's innovative mobile and virtual approach possible, allowing us to connect directly with children and families where they are. She is deeply committed to NOK's vision of building strong, healthy communities and helping children and youth develop their leadership potential.
