The Walking School Bus
A Safe, Fun, and Healthy Start to Every School Day
The Walking School Bus is a free community program that helps children get to school safely, supervised, on time, and ready to learn. Led by caring volunteers from Neighbourhood Outreach for Kids (NOK), children walk to Locke's Public School together each morning in a fun, welcoming group environment.
Along the way, children build friendships, stay active, and develop healthy habits all while enjoying a positive start to their day.

Why Join the Walking School Bus?
Safe and Supervised
Children are accompanied every morning by trusted NOK staff and volunteers who ensure everyone arrives at school safely.
A Full Belly for Learning
A nutritious snack helps fuel growing minds, bodies and readiness for the school day. No child should have to start class hungry, and we're proud to help make that possible.
On Time, Every Time
Starting the school day on time helps children feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn.
Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
Walking to school is a simple way to add daily physical activity into a child's routine.
What to expect each morning.
Each morning follows a simple and consistent routine:
Step 1: Meet Bev and the Walking School Bus team at 8:30 AM.
Step 2: Enjoy a free healthy snack.
Step 3: Spend a few minutes connecting with friends and participating in fun activities.
Step 4: Walk safely together to Locke's Public School under adult supervision.
Step 5: Walk safely together to Locke's Public School under adult supervision.
Who can participate?
The Walking School Bus is open to children attending Locke's Public School who are able to meet the group at the designated meeting location.
Whether your child walks every day or only occasionally, we'd love to have them join us.
